Body of missing 16-year-old Sumner County boy found
The body of a 16-year-old Sumner County boy was found Sunday afternoon – two days after he went missing – about half a mile from the Drury Dam on the Chikaskia River.
The boy disappeared Friday evening after he and a friend jumped off the dam into the river, according to Sumner County Deputy Fred Corley. The teen’s name has not been released pending notification of relatives.
Because of recent heavy rains, the search was difficult, Corley said.
“The current was some of the roughest I’ve seen,” he said. In addition, crews searched for the past two days in heat advisory conditions.
