Construction to the Sedgwick County Jail in downtown Wichita will affect traffic in the area starting Thursday.

The facility at 141 W. Elm St. will see the installation of a secondary water service line, according to a county news release.

“Construction will close the westbound lane of Elm Street, including parallel parking, from Main to Water Street,” the county said.

Eastbound traffic on Elm will remain open during the construction, which is expected to last up to two weeks.

“The work will also block part of the far west lane on Main Street at Elm but will not limit access into the Sedgwick County Courthouse or Parking Garage,” according to the county.
