Haysville man, 28, dies after motorcycle collides head-on with car

A 28-year-old man from Haysville died after the motorcycle he was riding collided head on with a car Sunday in an area north of Derby, authorities said.

The man’s identity was not released in a news release sent out Monday from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies from the sheriff’s office responded to the crash around 4:22 p.m. at 6100 E. 47th St. south and Woodlawn, according to the news release.

Investigators learned that the Haysville man was heading east on 47th on a Honda motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he crossed over into the westbound lanes, the sheriff’s office said.

The motorcycle struck a Buick Lacrosse sedan head on. The man died at the scene, the news release said.

The circumstances behind the crash are being investigated and the sheriff’s office says there no indications of alcohol or drug impairment.
