Wichita police identified a 43-year-old Wichita woman who died Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle near 13th and Broadway.

Officers responded around 8:30 p.m. to a crash call near the intersection. They found Donna Cheever injured, Wichita police spokesperson Juan Rebolledo said in a news release.

“Preliminary information shows that she [Cheever] was crossing the street just north of the intersection,” Rebolledo said in an email.

The driver, a 37-year-old man from Wichita who was driving a 2008 GMC Sierra, had the right of way, police said.

Sedgwick County EMS arrived and treated Cheever who was taken to a hospital. She died from her injuries shortly before 9 p.m., Rebolledo said.

The driver of the Sierra was not cited.

The department’s accident follow-up unit is looking into what led to the crash. Police ask that anyone who saw the accident to call investigators at 316-350-3690.
