Police investigating North Lorraine shooting late Friday as homicide (+video)
A man in his 40s has died after a shooting in the 1600 block of North Lorraine late Friday evening, police say.
Wichita police Lt. Dale Mattern said officers responded to a shooting call around 9:30 p.m. Friday, and upon arrival, found the man unresponsive.
He was not breathing when he was transported to Wesley Medical Center, and he was later pronounced dead, Mattern said.
Mattern said officers have “located several individuals that are being interviewed right now.”
“We’re still trying to determine exactly what happened at this point,” he said.
A neighbor originally called 911 after hearing shots, he said.
Police think the shooting occurred inside a residence on North Lorraine, “but we’re still looking into that,” Mattern said.
Mattern said police are “trying to look for anyone that might be involved” in the shooting.
“We’re early in the interviews,” he said. “As we get information from people, we’ll know more about who we’re looking for and where we’re at.”
Police are treating the investigation as a homicide, which would make this case the 15th homicide of 2015.
