Police identified a 71-year-old Wichita man who died after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bike Wednesday in south Wichita.

Officers responded at around 6:24 p.m. to a collision between a bicycle and sedan in the 5900 block of South Seneca, which is near Haysville, Lt. Aaron Moses said in a news release.

Michael Espinoza, who was on the bicycle, was taken by EMS to a hospital, where he died from his injuries, Moses said.

The car was heading south on Seneca and the crash did not happen at an intersection or crosswalk, Moses added.

No arrests have been made and everyone involved in the crash stayed at the scene of the collision, according to the release.

“As we are experiencing warmer weather, we are seeing more pedestrian and motorcycle activity,” Moses said. “The Wichita Police Department would like to remind everyone to slow down and share the road responsibly to ensure everyone’s safety.”

Anyone with information on the accident who has not spoken with investigators is encouraged to call the department’s accident follow-up team at 316-350-3687.
