Police: Don’t try to follow reckless driver, call 911
Wichita police say a 25-year-old man who began following a white Chevy Tahoe whose driver appeared to be driving the SUV recklessly, probably should have called 911.
The incident began at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday near Maple and Seneca, according to Lt. Joe Schroeder, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department. The 25-year-old man told police he followed the Chevy Tahoe until it neared the intersection of Dodge and Orient where the driver jumped out of the Tahoe and pointed a black handgun at the 25-year-old.
The 25-year-old quickly drove away with the Chevy Tahoe chasing him. It finally turned off near the victim’s residence, Schroeder said. The victim went inside his house and then called 911.
“This incident highlights the fact that if you are observing criminal activity, you probably should call 911 and then let officers take care of it,” Schroeder said. “This individual could have placed himself in danger.”
