Firefighters douse flames on cellphone tower in Andover Central Park, official says
Firefighters have put out a cellphone tower that caught fire Wednesday in Andover Central Park.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The fire was reported at 12:49 p.m. Pictures showed the flames were toward the top of the roughly 150-foot tower. Power was turned off to the tower and firefighters used dry powder extinguishers to douse the flames, city spokesperson Megan Schapaugh said in an email.
“No concerns on it falling,” she wrote, adding that a structural engineer is going to be looking at the tower.
She said T-Mobile, which owns the tower, would be responsible for repairs.
