Students at Brooks Magnet Middle School got sick and required medical attention after eating edibles laced with THC on Monday.

The Wichita school district provided The Eagle a message that was sent to parents Monday morning after the incident.

“This morning we had a few students who consumed edibles that were brought to school by a student. It resulted in a need for some to receive medical attention. We contacted the Wichita Police Department who are investigating. There will be consequences for the students involved,” USD 259 spokesperson Susan Arensman said.

Three students reportedly ate the edibles and started vomiting afterward, Wichita Police Department spokesperson Juan Rebolledo said in an email.

Two were taken to a hospital, one by parents and one by Sedgwick County Emergency Medical Services, according to Rebolledo.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

“Parents, please talk with your children about the potential risks associated with consuming candy or any other item that isn’t clearly marked,” the school district said.
