Police have identified the man who died at a Park City motorcycle track on Friday as 77-year-old Loy Burnett of Wichita, Park City police Sgt. Aaron Miller said in an email.

Authorities are still working to determine the cause of death, Miller added.

Park City police officers responded at 4:24 p.m. to an accident call at the Jeeps Motorcycle Club at 605 E 101st St. North, a Park City police news release said.

Family of Burnett said he had been riding a motorcycle on the course alone. They got concerned when he did not come back after a while and went looking for him, Miller said.

Police searched the track and found Burnett lying on the ground not breathing. The fire department and emergency medical services were called, and they pronounced him dead at the scene, according to the news release.

Police said they were uncertain if Burnett had a medical issue or suffered an accident on the track.

The Sedgwick County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine cause of death.

A Facebook page for the motorcycle track said he was a longtime motorcycle enthusiast.

A member of The Ark Valley Trails Association, a non-profit that promotes off-road motorcycling in Kansas, said Burnett was practicing for a race on Friday.

“Loy was always a very generous man with his skills on the race track, in the trials section and his mechanical abilities,” an association member said.
