Police ID body recovered from Walnut River near El Dorado

The body of a 26-year-old man who fell into the Walnut River east of El Dorado early Sunday morning has been recovered, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.

The man was walking on a man-made dam when he slipped and fell into the water at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday, authorities have said. El Dorado police identified him as David King Jr.

Search crews have included the Augusta Police Department; the Butler County Sheriff’s Office; the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism; and the El Dorado Police Department. Search and rescue dogs were also sent to the scene.

Boats were also used, as well as a helicopter from the Augusta airport.
