A 57-year-old man died after he was struck by a pickup truck while walking along a street in southeast Wichita on Sunday night.

Police say they plan to notify the man’s family before releasing his name.

The man had been eastbound on foot on the south side of Lincoln in the roadway when he was struck by a black 2016 Ford F-150 heading east on Lincoln, Wichita Police Department spokesperson Juan Rebolledo said in a news release.

Officers responded at about 8:35 p.m. to the intersection of East Lincoln Street and South Sylvan Lane. They found the man unconscious and not breathing. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Sedgwick County EMS, Rebolledo said.

The driver of the pickup was a 32-year-old man from Andover. He and several witnesses called 911, Rebolledo said.

“Currently, neither speed nor impairment are believed to be contributing factors to the collision,” the release said.

Anyone with information on the crash is encouraged to call WPD Detectives at 316-350-3686, the See Something Say Something hotline at 316-519-2282, or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.

This is the 24th fatality collision for the year and the 24th fatality, according to numbers provided by the Wichita Police Department.
