A 16-year-old student at Maize High School was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries Tuesday after the teen reportedly fell off a car.

The incident was reported at 2:58 p.m. and came in as an injury accident, a Sedgwick County Emergency Communications supervisor said.

Maize High School dismissal time is 2:40 p.m., according to the school’s website.

Maize Police Department Chief Jeff Weible said the incident happened near the school’s baseball fields and was a single-vehicle incident where the teen “fell off a car” and was found unconscious by authorities.

He was taken by Sedgwick County EMS to a local hospital. Authorities are investigating what led up the accident, Weible said.

The victim was male and was a student in the Maize School District, Weible said.
