To our readers: Two changes are coming to The Wichita Eagle

The Wichita Eagle is improving the e-edition digital replica to make it more timely while switching delivery of the print paper to U.S. Mail.
The Wichita Eagle is improving the e-edition digital replica to make it more timely while switching delivery of the print paper to U.S. Mail. The Wichita Eagle

Dear Eagle readers,

I wanted to tell you about two changes that are coming soon to The Wichita Eagle and Kansas.com.

First, we’re improving our daily eEdition, the online replica of the printed newspaper, to provide more timely information.

Currently, the eEdition is delivered to your email or found on our website at 5 a.m. each day. It consists of that day’s paper, plus dozens of pages of additional content, from politics to food, business to sports.

Even though we moved our printing to Hutchinson several years ago, the deadlines we face for the print edition prevent us from including all of the news that happens in a given day in our city.

In the coming days we will launch a second edition of the eEdition, which will scoop up the other stories of the day and include them as a supplement in front of the regular eEdition.

What that means is you will soon see an eEdition topped by our latest news, followed by the complete newspaper replica you receive now.

All print subscribers have free access to the eEdition, as well as Kansas.com and The Eagle app. All you have to do is go to kansas.com/activate.

We also encourage Eagle readers to take advantage of our digital newsletters and alerts. Signing up for these notifications is the very best way to stay informed because they come right to you, wherever you are, as news happens.

We have morning and afternoon newsletters focused on local news and business that are sent weekdays as well as weekly newsletters centered on Wichita State athletics, dining, politics and more. You can sign up for those at kansas.com/newsletters. We also offer news alerts via email, on your phone and to your computer desktop.

If you aren’t yet a subscriber, you can sign up for full digital access for as little as 44 cents a day. Visit subscribe.kansas.com/beinformed.

A second change is coming to the printed Eagle.

Effective October 23, your daily print edition will arrive via the U.S. Mail instead of delivery by a local carrier, which will allow us to continue to provide dependable service across the area.

For most of our customers, the weekday papers will continue to arrive on the same day that you receive them now, with your regular mail delivery.

Print readers will get their Sunday edition a day early, with the Saturday mail. And that Sunday edition will be expanded with additional pages of new content, including more features and analysis.

Don’t worry, these changes won’t affect the comics and puzzles you have now.

With these changes, The Eagle will continue to be the most reliable and comprehensive news source in Sedgwick County, with breaking stories delivered fast and deeper stories featured in our weekend print edition.

As always, we want to thank you for your continued support of The Wichita Eagle.
