Wichita man on motorcycle dies in I-235 accident in construction zone, trooper says
A 33-year-old Wichita man died in a motorcycle accident Thursday night on I-235 just south of Kellogg, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper.
Ryan C. Tholen was ejected from his 2019 Kawasaki after he swerved into the closed right lane and “struck a cut out section” then lost control and hit a “second cut out section,” the trooper wrote in a crash report. Tholen and the bike came to rest in the closed right lane.
First responders were called at 10:30 p.m. Tholen had been headed southbound at a “high rate of speed” in a construction zone marked 50 mph before the accident, the trooper said.
