Pedestrian struck near Ninth, Grove still in critical condition

A pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Grove on Wednesday night remains in critical condition at a local hospital Thursday, authorities said.

A 54-year-old man was driving north on Grove at about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday when the collision occurred, Lt. Joe Schroeder said. The 38-year-old pedestrian was running east on Random Road, near Ninth Street, when it appears he ran in front of the Kia Spectra and was struck.

The pedestrian was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment. The police department’s critical accident team is reviewing the circumstances of the incident and will present its findings to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office, Schroeder said.

The district attorney’s office will then determine what, if any, charges will be filed in the incident.
