Two women died when the SUV they were in collided head on with a semi truck south of Haysville on Monday.

The crash was reported around 3:30 p.m. in the 9100 block of south Broadway. A witness said a black SUV was heading north on Broadway when it crossed over into the southbound lane, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office captain Benjamin Blick said.

The semi was heading south on Broadway.

The driver of the SUV, a woman in her 60s, and the passenger, a woman in her 50s, both died at the scene of collision, Blick said.

The semi truck ended up in front of a residence. No damage was done to any homes or structures. The driver of the semi truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, according to Blick.

Broadway is currently closed from 87th to 95th street. Blick said the area will be closed off for roughly three hours.
