A 65-year-old woman died Tuesday morning in an east Wichita townhouse fire, battalion chief Jose Ocadiz said.

Around 4:13 a.m., a 911 caller reported smelling smoke from the upstairs of a Cedar Lakes Village triplex at 8325 E. Harry, Ocadiz said. Arriving firefighters found a small fire inside a first-floor townhouse and a woman who was unconscious, he said.

She was carried from the home. Fire and EMS weren’t able to resuscitate her, he said.

The cause of the fire and extent of the damage were not available late Tuesday morning.
