Wichita police say no obvious trauma on body of woman found near Big Ditch
Wichita police said Monday there were “no obvious signs of trauma” on the body of a Wichita woman who was found Friday afternoon, next to the Big Ditch at Central and Ridge.
But police offered few other details Monday, including how the woman died. Lt. Joe Schroeder, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department, said that an investigation is still ongoing. The body has been sent to the Sedgwick County Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death, police said.
The woman, 42, was found beneath a bridge over a drainage area near the Big Ditch. A passerby called shortly after 3 p.m. Friday after seeing what appeared to be a woman floating in the water.
