One person was rushed to a hospital in critical condition after a three-vehicle accident in east Wichita, police Lt. Krys Henderson said at the scene.

The crash was reported around 11:45 a.m. in the 1900 block of North Rock Road in front of the Sundance Apartment complex, across from the Bradley Fair shopping center.

A green four-door sedan was heading north on Rock Road “when all of sudden it decided to cross the center median and go into oncoming southbound traffic in the 1900 block of ... Rock Road,” Henderson said.

The green sedan struck a black four-door car that was heading south and “ultimately struck another car,” Henderson said.

The third vehicle in the collision appeared to be a silver midsize SUV. The driver of the green sedan was taken to the hospital “in very critical condition,” while the driver of the black sedan was taken to the hospital in stable condition, according to Henderson.

The third person involved had no injuries. Accident investigators are on scene piecing together what led up to the crash. Traffic is currently being blocked heading south on Rock Road.
