Minor earthquake strikes near Cheney overnight

One of the closest recent earthquakes to Wichita yet rumbled Cheney at about midnight on Thursday.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that quake measuring 2.8 on the Richter Scale was centered less than a mile southeast of Cheney. The quake’s epicenter was about three miles deep.

No damage has been reported as a result of the earthquake. To add to the USGS’ impact data go to earthquake.usgs.gov.
