President/CEO of Kansas Humane Society resigns; society names interim replacement
The president and CEO of the Kansas Humane Society has resigned, the organization announced Tuesday.
Emily Hurst had served in the top role at the society since February 2021.
“KHS wishes Emily the best in her future endeavors and appreciates all of our employees’ commitment to maintaining KHS’ excellence as a community resource for pets and people,” chief development officer Shasta Lockwood said in an email statement.
The KHS board of directors has named CFO Sheryl Weller interim president while the organization chooses Hurst’s long-term replacement, Lockwood said.
Hurst, Lockwood and a KHS spokesperson did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
