Power outage west of downtown closes Wichita library for the day, affects other buildings

A power outage in Wichita caused several buildings just west of downtown to lose power Tuesday morning.

Buildings affected in the outage included the Advanced Learning Library, Exploration Place and Riverfront Stadium. The outage was reported around 9:33 a.m. and power is expected to be restored around 2:15 p.m., an Evergy outage map shows.

The Advanced Learning Library will be closed for the remainder of the day due to lost access to public restrooms. All other six branch locations in the city will remain open, said Jaime Prothro, director of libraries.

“Computers are inoperable and we are unable to successfully operate. Branch locations will operate as normal. Programs are being canceled or postponed,” a library tweet read.
