A Friday funeral procession for a Sedgwick County deputy who died Oct. 7 will block off some streets in west Wichita.

Sidnee Carter, 22, died Oct. 7 while responding to a disturbance call when her patrol vehicle collided with another vehicle at 135th Street West and 29th Street North. Carter was headed south on 135th and the other driver headed west on 29th, the sheriff’s office said.

She died at the scene. The other driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The roads blocked off Friday will be on the route from the funeral service at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 861 N. Socora, to Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 West U.S. 54. The sheriff’s office said the following roads will be “closed for the procession in advance of and/or immediately after” the 11 a.m. funeral.

  • Bekemeyer Lane between Socora Street and Tyler Road
  • Tyler Road between Bekemeyer Lane and Maple Street
  • Maple Street between Tyler and 119th Street West
  • 119th Street West between Maple and Kellogg (U.S. 54).
