.

A student was arrested after a fight broke out outside West High School during the lunch period on Thursday.

Wichita police are still investigating. But Wichita school district spokesperson Susan Arensman said the fight involved roughly six to eight students. A second fight involving three more students “was quickly taken care of,” Arensman said.

The WPD school resource officer called for backup because a large crowd gathered outside. No one was injured, Arensman said.

“There is a rumor that there was a stabbing, but that didn’t occur,” Arensman told The Eagle.

It is unknown what led up to the fight. Earlier this week a gun was confiscated from a student at West High School.

This marks the second day in row a fight involving multiple students has broken out at a Wichita high school. At Southeast High School, a school security officer used pepper spray to disperse a crowd of students Wednesday.
