Oklahoma earthquake shakes Wichita

Wichita was in for some rattling and rolling shortly before 9 a.m. on Friday as residents felt the effects of an earthquake that hit near Cushing, Okla.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey website, a 4.3 quake struck near Cushing at 8:51 a.m. Cushing is between Tulsa and Oklahoma City.

Last week, a 4.4 earthquake struck in Harper County and was felt through much of the region.

The Oct. 3 quake was centered 7 miles east-southeast of Harper and struck at a depth of 3 miles, the USGS said on its website. It was one of eight earthquakes to hit Kansas that week, according to officials with the USGS and Kansas Geological survey.

Friday morning’s earthquake was centered at a depth of 4.3 kilometers, or about 2.67 miles.
