Officers identify driver killed in accident that injured another near Wichita airport

One man died and another was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a head-on collision Wednesday morning.

The man who died has been identified as 32-year-old Nicholas Cox of Haysville.

The accident was reported around 11:09 a.m. just west of the intersection of MacArthur and south Ridge Road, near Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport.

Cox was driving a Chevy Cruze when it crossed the center line on MacArthur and struck a Ford F-150 pickup head-on, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said.

The truck was driven by a 27-year-old Derby man. He was taken to a hospital.

The accident did not involve speed or alcohol, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said.
