Sedgwick County ends COVID disaster declaration, will close testing, vaccination sites

Sedgwick County is no longer under a disaster declaration for COVID-19.

The County Commission voted unanimously on Wednesday to rescind the declaration that was approved in March 2020.

The move comes after the county commission announced a shift from an emergency response to a recovery response to COVID earlier this month.

The county also plans to close testing and vaccination sites in Wichita at the end of April, county director of communications Akeam Ashford said in a meeting on Wednesday.

Thursday, April 28 will be the last day you can get tested at the county testing site at 4115 E. Harry. On Monday, May 2, testing for people who are uninsured will be available at the county clinic at 2716 W. Central.

Appointments can be made beginning April 25 by calling 316-660-7300.

Saturday, April 30 will be the last day you can get vaccinated at the community vaccination clinic at 223 S. Main St.

The county says it will continue offering mobile vaccination clinics and some testing through the remainder of 2022. A list of mobile vaccination clinics is available. You can visit www.sedgwickcounty.org for more information.
