The Wichita Eagle

One person died in a Saturday morning wreck near Valley Center, according to a Sedgwick County Emergency Communications supervisor.

The wreck was reported at 8:11 a.m. at 85th North and Ridge Road, which is just west of Valley Center. There are stop signs on 85th; traffic on Ridge does not have to stop.

Two people were injured in a crash reported near that intersection around 9:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office accident bulletin. That wreck happened when a driver hit a vehicle parked “partially in the ditch and in the roadway,” causing the driver of the parked vehicle and a passenger from that vehicle to be injured, a deputy wrote in the bulletin.

Other details in the fatal wreck, including the name of the victim, should be released by the sheriff’s office by Sunday.
