Wichita handyman repair business owner to pay $32,000 in fines, costs, DA says
The owner of a Wichita home repair and maintenance business has agreed to pay penalties and costs totaling up to $32,000 after an investigation by the Sedgwick County district attorney’s office.
Eric Keith, president of OneSource Home Services, LLC, was accused of violating consumer protection laws after a customer filed a complaint regarding services done at his property, according to a news release from the district attorney’s office.
Keith denied violating consumer protection laws, but accepted a consent judgment to settle the matter. The agreement calls for Keith to “pay over $32,000 in civil penalties, investigative expenses and court costs,” the release read.
The DA’s office found Keith was not properly licensed, failed to obtain required building permits and did not complete the services billed to a consumer, the news release says.
Keith voluntarily provided a full refund of $4,400 to the protected consumer. Keith will also have to “become properly licensed before engaging in future contracting business, and will perform an audit on work already completed to make sure inspections would occur” if required by Sedgwick County, the release said.
