A 25-year-old Wichita man was killed when he was hit by a car on Friday night on a highway in south Wichita, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

It’s unclear why Domonic Andrew Gibson was on foot and on the road when he was hit by a 25-year-old Kansas City, Missouri, woman driving a Kia car in the southbound lane of the Kansas Turnpike around 8:24 p.m, according to Trooper Brian Grunder. Gibson lived roughly a mile from where the wreck happened just south of the K-15 exit, Grunder said.

Grunder said speed didn’t appear to be a factor in the wreck.

The woman driving the Kia wasn’t injured. A 23-year-old Illinois woman in her car was thought to have minor injuries, according to the KHP crash log.
