Motorcyclist dies in collision with SUV at Central and Greenwich, police say
A man in his 20s is dead after a collision between a motorcycle and an SUV at the intersection of Central and Greenwich, police Lt. Chris Henderson said.
It happened around 4:30 p.m. at the busy east Wichita intersection. Witnesses reported that the man on the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Central approaching the intersection while a white SUV was attempting to turn southbound onto Greenwich from Central. “As a result there was a collision at the intersection,” Henderson said.
The driver of the SUV, a woman in her 40s, and a passenger both suffered facial injuries. The motorcyclist died at the scene. Police were still at the intersection piecing together what caused the accident two hours later, Henderson said.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area. Henderson said the intersection will closed “for a significant period of time or it could be closed all night until we get our investigators down here to do the traffic fatality portion of it.”
