Police identify 9-year-old boy who died in accident on Kellogg

Wichita police have identified the boy who died in an accident Saturday night as 9-year-old Armani Saucedo of Wichita, police said in a news release.

Around 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, Armani and his father, who was driving a 2007 white Ford Focus, were in the eastbound lanes of Kellogg at Seneca, police spokesperson Paul Cruz said in an email. Police did not identify the 27-year-old father.

Police say the Focus “side-swiped a 2017 red Ford F-150, causing it to collide with a 2004 marron Dodge Ram,” Cruz said. “The driver of the Focus lost control of the vehicle and struck a bridge abutment,” according to the release.

Armani was ejected from the Focus and was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.

The 24-year-old driver of the Ram and the 21-year-old driver of the F-150 were uninjured. The driver of the Focus received minor injuries, the release says.

The investigation is ongoing.
