Wondering what to do with that real Christmas tree? Here’s where to recycle them.
All December, you’ve enjoyed the freshness and woody scent of that real Christmas tree — even though it meant sweeping up a few pine needles.
But with the presents unwrapped and everyone’s attention turned to New Years Eve celebrations, you might be wondering:
What on earth do I do with this evergreen?
Don’t fret. Sedgwick County Environment Resources has you covered. Now through Jan. 21, you can haul that real Christmas tree to any of 22 recycling sites, where it will be ground into mulch that you can take back home for free. (But only if you want it.)
Currently, there are 10 drop-off sites in Wichita:
- Boston Park – 6655 E. Zimmerly
- Buffalo Park – 10209 Hardtner
- College Hill United Methodist Church – 1st and Erie
- Earhart Environmental Magnet School – 4401 N. Arkansas
- Edgemoor Park – 5815 E. 9th St.
- Extension Education Center – 7001 W. 21st St. N.

- Old Cowtown Museum – 1865 Museum Blvd.
