Police have identified the woman who died Wednesday after being hit by an SUV while she tried to cross Rock Road in an electric wheelchair.

Tracey Crawford, 55, of Wichita, died at the scene.

She was trying to cross Rock, from west to East, near Funston when the driver of the SUV, headed north on Rock, struck her, according to Wichita police spokesperson Trevor Macy. The accident was reported at 2:49 p.m.

There is no a crosswalk where the woman tried to cross.

“The occupants of the SUV and numerous witnesses remained on scene to assist with the investigation,” Macy said in a news release.

This is Wichita’s 42nd vehicular fatality this year and the 11th pedestrian death, Macy said.

Last month, a 71-year-old man in a wheelchair died after being hit by a car near Wichita State University.
