Two weekend events in Wichita will close roads and could leave motorists scrambling for alternate travel routes.

The 42nd annual Wichita Toy Run on Sunday will cause the biggest disruption to traffic as motorcyclists ride from Douglas and McLean downtown to Hartman Arena in Park City, collecting toy donations that will be split between the Salvation Army angel tree and the Marines’ Toys for Tots Christmas program.

Bikes will start lining up around 9 a.m. and leave for the arena at 1 p.m.

Wichita police say Broadway will be closed from Douglas to Hartman Arena from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Pedestrians and drivers will not be able to cross Broadway except on I-235 on the north end and south of Douglas on the south end.

The 2021 Veterans Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. Saturday downtown. The parade, which honors veterans and commemorates the 50th anniversary of the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War, will run until noon.

Police say the parade route will run south on north Main Street from Murdock to Waterman and then cut west to the WaterWalk Plaza.
