A 38-year-old woman is dead after her car was hit by a truck at a south Wichita intersection Sunday evening, according to a Monday news release from the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.

Clenea Meairs of Wichita died at the hospital where she was taken after her Chrysler Concorde was struck on the driver’s door by a Dodge truck traveling through the intersection at Seneca and 63rd Street South around 6:13 p.m. The Sheriff’s Office said the truck, driven by a 25-year-old Newkirk, Oklahoma, man was southbound on Seneca when the crash happened. He had the green traffic light, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Meairs was driving eastbound on 63rd Street at the time. Two girls in the car with her, ages 16 and 8, suffered minor injuries and were turned over to a family member at the crash site, the news release says.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Benjamin Blick said the girls are Meairs’ daughters.

A 17-year-old boy who was also in the car was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“The circumstances of the collisions are under investigation,” the release says.

The Oklahoma man was not hurt.
