Motorcyclist killed in west Wichita crash near airport overnight

Police at the Eisenhower National Airport were making routine checks overnight Thursday when they discovered a wrecked motorcycle and a critically injured 49-year-old man on the southwest side of the airport.

At about 2:40 a.m., Wichita Police and EMS responded to the scene in the 3200 block of South Tyler, and the man was pronounced dead.

According to a Wichita Police news release, the motorcyclist likely was speeding northbound on Tyler when he left the road. After striking a culvert, he was thrown from the motorcycle.
