A 61-year-old Pittsburg man died over the weekend after his pickup crashed into an SUV on U.S. Highway 69 in Crawford County.

Jeffery A. Leroy was driving south on the highway around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday when his Chevy S10 “went left to center” as it was approaching a northbound GMC Yukon XL, the Kansas Highway Patrol said in a crash report. Both vehicles “attempted evasive maneuvers,” but collided in the center of the highway, about 10 miles north of Kansas Highway 47, the report says.

Leroy suffered fatal injuries. The two Garnett teenagers in the SUV, 18 and 16, reported minor and no injuries, the KHP said.

Crawford County is in the southeast corner of the state.
