Neosho County crash kills Chanute woman Saturday

A 57-year-old Chanute woman died Saturday morning after a Neosho County crash.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said Sharon L. Rice failed to yield at an intersection as she was eastbound on 160th Road, three miles north of Erie. Her Ford Focus collided with an SUV that was southbound on Highway U59.

Three people in the SUV – a 37-year-old Erie woman and two children, ages 13 and 10 – were hospitalized with injuries or possible injuries.

The crash happened at 7:43 a.m., the highway patrol said.
