Pedestrian who tried to run across Kansas interstate died after he was hit by an SUV

State troopers said a Kansas man was killed when he ran into an SUV while trying to cross the interstate.

The wreck happened at around 10:15 p.m. Saturday along I-135 in Harvey County about 12 miles north of Wichita, the Kansas Highway Patrol said in a crash report. The crash site was north of the rest area and south of the Whitewater exit.

“Vehicle 1 was Southbound in the right lane of I135 when a pedestrian ran across the roadway in front of it, striking the right front corner of the vehicle,” troopers wrote in the report.

The pedestrian died at the scene. The KHP identified him as 20-year-old Kalub J. Rowson, of Minneapolis, Kansas. The report did not say why he was running across the interstate.

The three Wichitans in the Lexus RX350 were not hurt.
