Man’s body found in river near downtown Wichita; police don’t suspect foul play

A man’s body was found in the Arkansas River near Lincoln and McLean Monday night by a walker, officer Charley Davidson said.

“Through the initial investigation, it is not believed that anything criminal occurred,” police said in a news release. “However, the investigation is ongoing and the official cause of death is pending an autopsy and determination by the Regional Forensic Science Center.”

A person walking near the river and called police at around 8:15 p.m. Wichita firefighters removed the man’s body from the water and he was pronounced dead, according to the news release.
