One dead, one injured after driver ran stop sign near Sedgwick, sheriff’s office says

One person was killed and another injured during a two-vehicle crash Tuesday night after one driver ran a stop sign, according to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.

Alec Tillman of Sedgwick was headed west on 125th Street North when a 22-year-old Newton man, headed north on Meridian, “failed to stop for the stop sign” and hit Tillman in the intersection, which is a couple of miles east of Sedgwick, the Sheriff’s Office said. First responders were called at 7:34 p.m.

Tillman’s vehicle left the road and hit a pipeline marker. The 22-year-old died at the scene.

The Newton man’s vehicle also left the road, hit a ditch and overturned. He was taken to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis with suspected minor injuries.
