Kansas couple killed in motorcycle crash were a former police officer and his wife

A Hutchinson couple killed in a motorcycle crash in north-central Kansas was a former police officer and his wife.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported in an online crash log that emergency crews were called at around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday to a wreck in Cloud County. Investigators determined that a 2008 Suzuki VL800 was eastbound on K-9 about three miles west of Concordia. The motorcycle was attempting to negotiate the curve when it struck a 2013 Chevy Silverado that was westbound.

The man and woman riding the motorcycle were pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified in the KHP report at Michael Eugene Kaufman and Delinda Lea Kaufman, both of whom were 67 years old and from Hutchinson.

The 45-year-old Beloit man driving the Chevy pickup truck had a possible injury, troopers reported.

The South Hutchinson Police Department said in a Facebook post that Michael Kaufman was a patrol officer and later a captain for the department between 1985 and 2006. Delinda Kaufman was his wife.
