Man, 29, dies in nighttime motorcycle wreck near Old Cowtown Museum

A 29-year-old Wichita man riding with a group of motorcyclists died in a crash Monday night near Old Cowtown Museum, police said.

John Bonner was on a 2012 Kawasaki motorcycle, headed west on Museum Boulevard at 9:38 p.m. when he hit a curb while going around a corner. Witnesses told police he also hit a light pole, records show.

“He was ejected from his motorcycle, causing his fatal injuries,” officer Charley Davidson said in a news release. “Investigators believe speed was a factor in the accident.”

Bonner was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was the 14th fatality in a wreck so far this year and the fifth involving a motorcycle.
