I-135 to Kellogg eastbound ramp closed for a time weekdays
The off ramp from southbound I-135 to eastbound Kellogg will be closed for six hours each weekday for the next two weeks.
The highway exit will be shut down from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning June 1 so workers can take geologic core samples from the bridge and ramp, the Kansas Department of Transportation said in a news release. The samples will be used to help road and bridge designers plan for future work.
Another highway ramp, eastbound Kellogg to southbound I-235, will also be closed this week for temporary bridge repairs. That exit is scheduled to shut down at 9 a.m. Wednesday and could remain closed until 3 p.m., KDOT said.
KDOT is also still making bridge repairs including permanent striping on southbound I-135 from 17th Street to First Street, which may result in lane and ramp closures on weekdays through June 19. Closures to allow for bridge repairs are also scheduled for portions of northbound I-135, from Kellogg to 17th Street, starting at 7 p.m. Friday, KDOT said. Left and center lanes will close first, followed by the right highway lane and adjacent ramps.
Single lane closures on I-235 from Meridian to Broadway will continue weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as bridge beams are set over the Little Arkansas River. Travelers on the Kansas Turnpike may also experience delays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday as workers move bridge girders into place between mile markers 42 and 64, KDOT said.
