Police working to identify body found in Garvey Park, no foul play suspected
A woman walking along the bike path Friday afternoon at Garvey Park found the body of a man along the Arkansas River, police said. The body was a man believed to be in his 40s. He was partially in the water and partially on the embankment, Officer Kevin Wheeler said.
First-responders were called at 2:08 p.m. and the man was pronounced dead a few minutes later. Police are still working to identify the man.
No foul play is suspected, Wheeler said. The cause of death is pending an autopsy that should be done next week, Wheeler said. The park is in the 3500 block of South Washington, in south Wichita, near Interstate I-135 and Hydraulic.
