Motorcycle rider dies after wreck in northwest Wichita, police say
Police believe speed was a factor in a fatal motorcycle wreck from Friday night, the Wichita Police Department said Saturday.
Officer Kevin Wheeler said in a news release that first responders were called at around 8 p.m. Friday to the intersection of West 13th and North Maize. A 45-year-old man was headed south on Maize on a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he lost control and was ejected from the bike, Wheeler said.
The man was in the roadway when officers arrived. He was taken to the Wichita hospital where he died from his injuries Saturday morning, Wheeler said.
“It is believed that speed played a role in the accident,” Wheeler said.
Police did not release the man’s name. The crash is under investigation.
