Get rid of old books and pick up new ones at our #ReadICT book swap Saturday

Have some books you want to purge from your home library?

Bring them to Wichita’s downtown library Saturday morning and swap them for a new-to-you book or two that you want to read.

We’re celebrating the launch of The Eagle’s 2020 #ReadICT Challenge with this year’s first meetup and book swap at the Advanced Learning Library, 711 W. Second St., from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The idea is simple: Dig through your bookshelves, round up any books you no longer want, bring them to the library and trade them for others. It’s free, and the books will be first-come, first-served. Bring one book or a box full — or just come out to meet other members of the growing and vibrant #ReadICT community.

If you’re not familiar with the #ReadICT Challenge, it’s The Eagle’s annual challenge to expand your horizons by reading books from a dozen different categories — a book with a number in the title, a speed read, a selection from a celebrity book club and more — over the course of the calendar year.

We’re excited to continue our partnership with the Wichita Public Library, where you not only can check out books, e-books or audiobooks to complete the challenge but also track your progress online and qualify for prizes at wichitalibrary.org/readict.

Any books left over after Saturday’s swap will be donated to the Friends of the Wichita Public Library.
