Road work underway on U.S. 54 between Andover and Augusta

Road work has begun on a stretch of U.S. 54 between Andover and Augusta in Butler County.

The Kansas Department of Transportation is doing a concrete patching project from the east city limits of Andover to the west city limits of Augusta, state officials said in a prepared statement. One lane for eastbound traffic and one lane for westbound traffic will remain open during the $12.2 million project, which is scheduled to be completed by December barring weather delays.

The work zone will have a width restriction of 11 feet, state officials said, so vehicles with wider than 11 feet will need to use an alternate route.

As part of the same project, the same stretch of U.S. 54 will receive a fresh overlay of asphalt.
